NETHILI KARUVADU AVIYAL



         Everyone in our family likes this nethili karuvadu aviyal.Small fish that's big on flavour.It is an easy and simple recipe and can be cooked within 10 minutes.But the cleaning process takes some times.Because it is a dried fish.First soak the fish for 2 hours.
          Remove the head and unwanted inner parts in each fish it takes little time.After  that rinse it in water for 3 or 4 times.Then only we can start cooking.This is my chithi's method of prepartion,please do try it at home and tell me how it came out to you....

INGREDIENTS:

Nethili karuvadu /dried anchovies- 300 grams
Raw mango - 1 cut it into lengthwise
Raw plaintain - 1 cut it into lengthwise
Salt

FOR GRINDING:

Coconut - 1 and 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tblspn 
Chilli powder - 2 tblspn
Pepper -1/4 tblspn
Cumin seeds 1/4 tblspn
Garlic -3
Shallots- 4

PICTORIAL:

Soak the dried anchovies for 2 hours


Clean the fish and keep aside


Add 1 and a 1/2 cup of grated coconut in a mixer


Add 1/2 tblspn of turmeric powder


Add 2 tblspn of red chilli powder


Add 1/4 tblspn of cumin seed


Add 1/4 tblspn of black pepper


Add 3 garlic


Add  4 shallots


Grind well 


Take a pot and add cleaned dried anchovies


Add 1 raw banana


Add 1/2 raw mango


Add chopped 3 green chillies

Add  grinded coconut mixture



Add 2 cups of water

Mix well


Place the earthen pot on stove and turn on the flame 


Add curry leaves 


Add salt 


Wait to boil,cook until the raw smell are gone


After 10 min the raw smell are gone and smells aroma

 Everything cooked well turn of the stove


Yummy and spicy nethili karuvadu aviyal is ready.serve hot 

METHOD:

  1. Soak the dried anchovies for 2 hours.
  2. Clean the fish and keep aside.
  3. In a mixer add 1 and a 1/2 cup grated c oconut,2 tblspn chilli powder,1/4 tblspn turmeric powder,1/4 tblspn pepper,1/4 tblspn cumin seeds,3 garlic and 4 shallots.Grind well.
  4. Take a pot add cleaned dried anchovies,1 raw banana,1/2 raw mango,grinded coconut mixture.Add 2 cups water and mix well.
  5. Place the earthenpot on stove and turn on the flame.
  6. Wait to boil and cook until raw smell are gone.
  7. After 10 min everything cook well,smells aroma.
  8. Yummy and spicy nethili karuvadu aviyal is ready.
