        Uratti or oratti is a traditional south Indian recipe,popular in Nagercoil.I used raw rice and grated coconut to make the batter.No need to ferment the batter,once you prepare the batter start making the orattis.
         Main thing we have to concentrate on this recipe is making the  paste.You can relish this oratti with masala chutney,coconut chutney,chicken curry and sugar.

SOAK TIME: 45 min

PREPARATION TIME:30 min

COOKING TIME:10 min

INGREDIENTS:

Raw rice / pacharisi - 2 cups
Grated coconut - 1 and a half cups
Salt
Water

PICTORIAL:

Take 2 cups raw rice/ pacharisi in a bowl


Soak for 45 min


Add soaked raw rice in a grinder


Add 1 and a half cups grated coconut


Add required salt


Grind the batter little coarsely


Consistency of the batter is like dosa batter


Clean the excess batter in the grinder using 2 cups of water


Collect the  water in a bowl


Boil the water and keep stirring 


After few min it starts thickening,keep stirring


After few min it starts boiling  and keep stirring.Boil the water for 1 min


It thickened now switch off the flame



Added to the uratti batter



Mix well


If the batter is thick add little water to adjust the consistency of the batter


The batter should be in flowing consistency


Heat a dosa tawa brush some oil and make uratti using the batter like how we make dosa and cook for few min


cook both sides


Tasty uratti is ready.Serve with masala chutney

METHOD:

  • Soak 2 cups of raw rice/ pacharisi for 45 min
  • Grind the soaked raw rice,1 and a half ups of grated coconut and required salt using grinder.
  • Grind the batter little coarsely and the consistency of the batter should be like dosa batter and keep aside.
  • Clean the excess batter in the machine using 2 cups of water and collect it in a bowl.
  • Heat the collected water and keep on stirring it.After few min it starts thickening and continue stirring.After some times it starts boiling and keep on stirring it.Boil the water for 1 min and switch off the flame.
  • Add it to the uratti batter and mix well.If the batter is thick add water to adjust the consistency.The batter should be in flowing consistency.
  • Heat a tawa brush some oil make uratti using the batter.Cook both sides.
  • Yummy uratti is ready and serve with masala chutney.
