FISH CURRY/FISH KULAMBU
Steamed rice along with this fish curry is a awesome combination.You can taste the spiciness in every single bite.It is not only tastier but it is super easy to make as well.It is a spicy and delicious fish curry and loved by everyone.Normally my mom make this fish curry in clay pot/earthen ware and use grindstone for grinding the spices,it will enhances the taste of the fish curry.You can use a blender also.This is my mom's method of preparation ,do try this at home and let me know your valuable feedback in the comment section below.Now let's start doing the recipe...
PREPARATION TIME:15 MIN
COOKING TIME:20 MIN
INGREDIENTS:
garlic -5
grated coconut -3 tblspn
pepper 1 tblspn
curry leaves -hand full
shallots -2
tamarind -1 lemon size
coriander powder - 1 tblspn
curry leaves -some
green chillies-5
salt
PICTORIAL:
Add hand full of curry leaves
Fry until it is dark brown,dont get burnt while roasting
Add 10 red chillies and fry for just 45 sec
Keep aside
Add small piece of virali manjal or we can use 1/2 tspn turmeric powder
Add the roasted ingredients and grind well |
Add 2 shallots
Grind well like fine paste
In a earthen pot add 1/2 kg fish
In a bowl take tmarind water
METHOD:
- Soak tamarind first.
- Rinse the fish 3 to 4 times with water and keep aside.
- For roasting take all the roasting ingredients in a dry pan and roasted till brown,don’t burn it.
- Grind the roasted ingredients with adding 1 small onion/shallot using grindstone/blender keep the grinding mixture aside.
- Wash the grindstone/blender and added to the grinded mixture.
- Now squeeze tamarind to remove the pulp. Filter the tamarind pulp and keep aside.
- Take the fish in a clay pot.
- Add the grinded mixture,tamarind pulp,coriander powder,curry leaves,slitted green chilly and salt to the fish
- Mix all these ingredients and start cooking for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Now switchoff the flame and cover it.
- Serve with hot steamed rice.
